Grundfos was established in 1945 in Bjerringbro by the late Poul Due Jensen. He gave his company the name of "Bjerringbro Pressestøberi og Maskinfabrik" (Bjerringbro Die-Casting and Machine Factory) and not until 1967, after several changes of names, did the company get its present name.


The Poul Due Jensen Foundation was established as a self-governing institution in 1975. Today, the foundation owns about 86 per cent, staff about 2 per cent and the founder's family about 12 per cent of shares in Grundfos Holding A/S. The aim of the foundation is the continued development of the Grundfos Group. The capital and the profits of the foundation are used solely for the aim of the foundation, that, is the profits are to be re-invested in the Grundfos companies. Grundfos Holding A/S is the majority shareholder in all the Grundfos companies. Lars Kolind was the group chairman.

The Grundfos CM/CME pump has been created with compactness, flexibility and reliability as its central features. This horizontal multistage close-coupled pump is a compact, reliable and quiet pump designed to work in a variety of applications.

The difference between the CM and the CME pump ranges is the motor. CM pumps are fitted with mains-operated motors, whereas the motors for CME pumps have an integrated frequency converter and PID controller.

A Grundfos engineered mechanical shaft seal has been designed to eliminate industry-wide problems with shaft seals sticking where SIC-SIC seal faces are used.  The solution builds on both the implementation of a rotation stop on the stationary ring and different surface finishing on both the stationary and rotating rings.

The Grundfos ALPHA is designed for circulating liquids in light commercial and residential heating systems. Available in cast-iron pump housings for closed systems or stainless steel housings for open or domestic hot-water systems.

The Grundfos fieldbus concept is the ideal solution for complete control of pumps and pump systems. The Communication Interface Module (CIM) and the Communication Interface Unit (CIU) enable data communication via open and interoperable networks.

The Grundfos CIM/CIU communication interfaces offer ease of installation and commissioning, user-friendliness, and great value for money in the long term. All modules are based on standard functional profiles for easy integration into the network and easy understanding of data points.

The CIM card/module is an add-on module that allows communication with 15-30 HP 3x460V MLE motors (E-pumps) and the new Dedicated Controls for wastewater pumps.

The CIU communication interface unit is for products with a GENIbus interface such as small E-pumps, circulation

pumps and boosters. CIU units have an integrated 24 to 240 VAC/VDC power supply and are prepared for wall-mounting or DIN-rail mounting.
